Spignon is a very small island of 160 m². It is located in the Venetian Lagoon. On the island there is a lighthouse that has not been used for a long time. The people of Venice call the island ” ex faro Spignon“. The lighthouse is 15 meters high and was built in the second half of the 19th century. It was used to guide the boats arriving from the port of Malamocco during the night.
In addition to the ancient lighthouse of Spignon, there were many others, but today they have all been replaced by the new Faro Rocchetta, which is used both for ships entering the port and those leaving. The only ancient lighthouse still in function is the Faro Ceppe. Visiting this small island is really suggestive and today it is a safe haven for fishermen. After the trip to Spignon Island we are waiting for you to taste the fish specialties of our region.
